Fayetteville Fire Marshal Reminds Residents of Fireworks Rules and Safety Tips
The Fayetteville Fire Marshal is reminding residents of the guidelines and safety measures to follow when using fireworks within city limits during the upcoming Fourth of July celebrations. Citizens are allowed to purchase and use fireworks from permitted stands starting Friday, June 28, with specific dates and time slots in which they can be discharged.
Critical to note is that people under 16 years old must be supervised by an adult of at least 21 years of age during the discharge of fireworks. Additionally, skyrockets or aerial fireworks attached to a stick (bottle rockets) are prohibited within Fayetteville city limits.
For legal and responsible use, licensed fireworks stands can operate from June 28. The approved time slots for igniting fireworks are between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. from July 1 to July 3, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on July 4.
Emphasizing fire safety, residents are urged to provide a minimum 50-foot clearance from buildings and spectators, have a fire extinguisher and water hose nearby, and only use undamaged fireworks. The Fire Marshal’s Office also advises against wearing loose clothing or open-toe shoes, altering or combining fireworks, and mixing alcohol with fireworks use.
Taking note of residential and commercial trash collection schedules, residents are requested to dispose of firework debris responsibly. Furthermore, two professional fireworks displays have been approved for the holiday, one at Paradise Valley Golf and Athletic Club on July 3 and another at Fayetteville Country Club on July 4, both starting around 9 p.m.
By following these guidelines and exercising necessary precautions, the Fire Marshal’s Office aims to ensure a safe and memorable Independence Day for all citizens.
