Fayetteville Man Faces Attempted Capital Murder Charge
Following a chaotic incident that left a community shaken, Brice Jackson, 37, of Fayetteville has been arrested and charged with attempted capital murder. The arrest came after officers responded to a residence on the 500 block of Betty Jo Drive in Fayetteville on July 26, where a shooting call was reported. Upon arrival, authorities found six adults and two children on the patio during the incident. Jackson allegedly fired a weapon, striking one victim before fleeing the scene.
According to reports, Jackson was seen yelling and talking to himself while holding a firearm. Despite an initial malfunction, the gun was fired, and the victim claimed that Jackson was aiming directly at them before the weapon jammed. Subsequent investigations revealed a .22 pistol with a fired shell casing in the ejection port, although the serial number had been scratched off.
Jackson currently faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and disorderly conduct. He is being held at the Washington County Detention Center with a set bond of 0,000. His arraignment has been scheduled for August 14.
