On December 18, 2024, the final City Council meeting for Mayor Jordan took place, filled with well-wishers and heartfelt thank-yous. Vice Mayor Sara Bunch praised Jordan’s commitment to fairness and his exemplary representation of the community, highlighting his beloved slogan.
“Open door, open heart, open mind” is a favorite saying of Jordan’s, Bunch noted during the emotional remarks. This phrase encapsulates his approach to governance, ensuring that every resident and business has a voice in the decisions that shape Fayetteville’s future.
During his tenure, Mayor Jordan has overseen the creation of 10 master plans aimed at guiding future growth. These plans include the Digital Inclusion Plan, Drainage Improvement Plan for Flood Management and Water Quality, Energy Action Plan, Fayetteville First Economic Development Plan, Fayetteville Mobility Plan, Parking Master Plan, Solid Waste Reduction, Diversion and Recycling Master Plan, Water Master Plan update, and Welcoming Fayetteville Plan. These initiatives focus on economic vitality, improving infrastructure, and maintaining Fayetteville’s high quality of life.
In April 2019, Fayetteville voters approved a bond initiative that allowed the city to invest up to 6 million in crucial improvements. These projects range from road enhancements and trail construction to public safety upgrades and the development of a new Cultural Arts Corridor. The bond issues are seen as critical not only for the safety and prosperity of Fayetteville but also for bolstering its local economy during challenging times.
Moreover, the City Council recently passed a stormwater utility fee aimed at controlling floodwaters, which have become an escalating problem in certain parts of Fayetteville. This fee will generate approximately .1 million in the first year and is designed to address environmental concerns while ensuring financial stability.

He and his wife Diana have been married over 40 years and have lived in south Fayetteville since 1977.
