Southern Arkansas Tech Appoints Grant Warner as Director of Arkansas Fire Training Academy
On September 6, 2024, Southern Arkansas University Tech (SAU Tech) announced the appointment of Grant Warner as the new Director of the Arkansas Fire Training Academy (AFTA). This significant development aims to enhance the academy’s training and certification programs for first responders and emergency service providers.
Grant Warner brings an impressive mix of experience and expertise to the role. He previously served as an instructor at the AFTA from September 2021 to September 2022 and has an extensive background in firefighting and emergency services. His professional history includes 15 years with the Jacksonville Fire Department, where he held the position of Division Chief in Training.
In addition to his domestic experience, Warner also has international experience as a firefighter and Lieutenant with WSI in Iraq from February 2005 to February 2006. He is further involved with several professional organizations, such as The Arkansas Task Force One, the International Society of Fire Service Instructors, and the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians.
Warner holds multiple certifications and licenses, including FSAC Fire Instructor 3, Fire Officer 4, NCPA 1403 Live Fire Instructor, Emergency Medical Technician, and IFSAC HazMat Technician. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Homeland Security/Emergency Services Management from Columbia Southern University.
