UA Sets Enrollment Milestone with Over 33,600 Students

Setting a New Record

The University of Arkansas is celebrating its fourth consecutive year of record-breaking enrollment with a whopping 33,610 students enrolled for the fall 2024 semester. This represents a significant 4.6% increase over the previous year, amounting to more than 1,500 additional students. Over the past five years, the university has seen a remarkable 22% surge in enrollment.

Strong Freshman Class

This year’s freshman class is the second-largest in the university’s history, boasting 6,614 students. Though it falls shy of the record 7,096 students in 2022, it marks a substantial growth. Notably, this year’s freshmen are the most academically prepared class in school history, demonstrating the institution’s commitment to academic excellence.

The university attributes its growth, in part, to its ascending retention rates, which have risen to 85% or above since 2020. Furthermore, more Arkansans are enrolled at the university than ever before, with 16,519 students from the Natural State. Over the past five years, the university has increased its enrollment among Arkansans by more than 10%.

Undergraduate and Graduate Numbers

The university has achieved significant enrollment milestones across various programs. There are 28,859 undergraduate students enrolled, a 5% increase from the previous year. Graduate programs also saw significant growth, with 4,355 students, representing the second-largest graduate class. The law school, too, experienced a 9% increase in enrollment since 2019.

Future Plans

While the university celebrates this milestone, it remains proactive in its plans for future growth. Officials are already gearing up for the 2025 enrollment season, which promises to be even more impressive. With applications up in every category, the future looks bright for the University of Arkansas.
