University of Arkansas, Fayetteville Names Pathways Scholars
The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville has announced the selection of its new Pathways scholars, recognizing outstanding students from underrepresented backgrounds. This prestigious program prepares high school students to excel at the university and supports the institution’s land-grant mission to serve the entire state.
To be eligible for the Pathways program, students must come from low-income backgrounds, be first-generation college students, or hail from underrepresented geographic areas in Arkansas. Additionally, they must have a high school GPA of 3.5 or above and score between 23 and 27 on the ACT (or 1130 to 1300 on the SAT). Students who meet these criteria are invited to apply to the program.
The Pathways program offers a range of benefits to its scholars. They receive annually renewable scholarships of up to ,500, which can be increased to ,500 if they later join the Honors College. The program also includes an intersession bridge program, living learning communities, and peer and faculty mentoring. Scholars are encouraged to engage in various activities such as internships, undergraduate research projects, and service learning, fostering a well-rounded experience at the university.
Current scholars in the program are pursuing a diverse array of majors, from agribusiness and architecture to pre-med and poultry science. This variety reflects the university’s commitment to supporting students from various backgrounds as they pursue their academic and professional goals.
