Washington County Sheriff’s Office Responds to Early Morning Shooting
Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting at Horning’s Hideout located at 21277 NW Brunswick Canyon Road on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 9:35 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies found an adult male, later identified as 47-year-old Carl Horning, with multiple gunshot wounds. The first deputy on the scene attempted to provide aid, but unfortunately, Carl did not survive.
The initial investigation led to the detention of 63-year-old Robert Horning, who was present at the scene. Although initially detained, Robert was released several hours later. With ongoing investigations, Robert is considered a person of interest in the homicide case. Notably, Robert and Carl are brothers.
The Violent Crimes Unit detectives are actively investigating the incident, ensuring that there is no danger to the public at this time. The family has requested privacy and has asked not to be contacted during this difficult period.
