Arkansas inks 3-year, M deal to upgrade 2001-era AASIS accounting system

Arkansas Invests in Upgrading Aging AASIS Accounting System

Arkansas has taken a significant step towards modernizing its outdated administrative infrastructure by inking a three-year, million deal to upgrade the Arkansas Administrative Statewide Information System (AASIS). This computerized accounting system has been in use since 2001 and has long been overdue for an overhaul.

Activiated by then-Gov. Mike Huckabee’s administration during the summer of 2001, AASIS has been the backbone of the state government’s financial management. Over the years, however, the system has shown its age, necessitating a major revamp to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations.

The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration has entered into a contract with Deloitte Consulting LLP to execute this critical upgrade. The new system promises to provide enhanced capabilities, improve data security, and meet the evolving needs of the state government.

This development marks a key investment in Arkansas’ administrative infrastructure, demonstrating the state’s commitment to embracing innovative solutions and staying technologically relevant in the 21st century.
