ASP Pursuit Leads to Arrest and Seizure of 6 Pounds of Fentanyl
In a key law enforcement operation, the Arkansas State Police (ASP) and the Little Rock Police Department worked together to apprehend a suspect and confiscate a significant quantity of illicit drugs. On August 26, a high-speed pursuit led to the capture of 36-year-old Clifford Virgle Siglar of Little Rock, who was discovered to be in possession of six pounds of fentanyl and a loaded handgun.
The pursuit started when the Little Rock Police Department requested assistance from the ASP in tracking a 1999 Chevrolet Camaro on South University Avenue near 65th Street around 8 p.m. As the vehicle entered a residential area near Baseline Road, troopers joined the chase, which continued north onto Chicot Road and University Avenue. The suspect vehicle reached speeds over 110 mph, posing a significant risk to other motorists.
The law enforcement team successfully employed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) on South University, forcing the Camaro off the road. Siglar exited the vehicle and attempted to evade capture by fleeing on foot, but he was ultimately apprehended in a nearby tree-lined area.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers found a backpack containing the six pounds of fentanyl and a loaded handgun. Siglar was arrested and charged with multiple counts, including Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Firearms by a Certain Person, Fleeing, and various traffic violations.
Siglar pleaded not guilty in Little Rock District Court on August 28 and was granted a 0,000 bond with a review hearing set for October 25. This collaborative effort by the ASP and local law enforcement underscores their commitment to combate dangerous drug trafficking activities and ensure public safety.
