ASP Pursuit Leads to Arrest, Seizure of Six Pounds of Fentanyl
On Monday, August 26, 2024, a high-speed pursuit by the Arkansas State Police led to a significant drug bust and the arrest of a suspect. The incident began when the Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) requested assistance in tracking a 1999 Chevrolet Camaro heading south on South University Avenue near 65th Street. The suspect vehicle exceeded 110 miles per hour to evade law enforcement, putting other motorists’ lives at risk.
The pursuit continued north onto Chicot Road and University Avenue before troopers executed a tactical vehicle intervention (TVI) on South University, forcing the suspect off the roadway. The driver, Clifford Siglar, 36, of Little Rock, abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. He was eventually apprehended by troopers in a tree-lined area off South University.
Siglar was transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center and now faces multiple felony charges, including Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Firearms by a Certain Person, Fleeing, and various traffic violations. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a backpack containing approximately six pounds of Fentanyl and a loaded handgun. He pleaded not guilty and was held on a 0,000 surety bond.
The efforts of law enforcement have been recognized not only in this incident but also in other notable operations. For instance, Arkansas State Police Sergeant Greg Smith was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during a 2020 missile attack in Iraq, highlighting the dedication and sacrifices made by these officers.
In another notable case, the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, along with the New York Drug Enforcement Task Force, seized over 25 pounds of fentanyl and cocaine and 0,000 cash from a residence in the Bronx. This collaborative effort underscores the importance of interagency cooperation in combating drug trafficking and the significant risks these operations pose to public safety.
