According to police statements, the unidentified driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when they encountered a slight curve in the road. The driver lost control, hitting the center divider and subsequently barreling across the road into the parking lot of a local oil change location and a McDonald’s restaurant. The vehicle broke apart due to the force of the crash, ejecting the driver who suffered critical burns and injuries[2].

The car crash caused substantial damage to the south side entrance of the McDonald’s, with debris scattered across multiple parking lots. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with a considerable debris field extending from the road into both the oil change business and the McDonald’s parking lot. Agencies are still investigating the incident, and Sergeant Ryan Carver of the Taylorsville City Police Department is urging motorists to drive at the speed limit and be cautious, particularly during late-night hours when distractions and dangers can multiply. “You can tell that the vehicle was driving exceptionally fast,” Sergeant Carver said. “It was a considerable debris field all the way across 5400 and into the parking lots of both businesses.”
