Central Arkansas Organization Receives ,000 Grant for Child Abuse Prevention
A central Arkansas organization dedicated to preventing child abuse has received a substantial grant of ,000 from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) program. This funding will significantly enhance the organization’s ability to continue its mission of protecting children and supporting their families.
The Arkansas Commission on Child Abuse, Rape and Domestic Violence awarded this grant as part of its efforts to combat child abuse and neglect across the state. The organization will utilize the funds to expand its services and provide more comprehensive support to at-risk children and families.
The grant is part of a larger initiative by UAMS to prevent domestic violence and child abuse in Arkansas. Eleven organizations have received funding to support projects aimed at prevention, education, and support services for victims and their families. This collective effort aims to create a safer and healthier environment for Arkansas’ children.
Community Connections, a nonprofit offering free extracurricular activities for children and young adults with disabilities, is one of the organizations benefiting from this grant. The organization will use the funding to add a full-time family and child abuse prevention coordinator, expanding its services and events to further support families.
The collective funding of over 0,000 marks the largest amount awarded by the commission since it began its grant program three years ago. The recipients were selected from a highly competitive pool of 23 applications received during the January to March application period. The grants provide up to 0,000 per year for two years to organizations offering services targeted at children, parents, potential parents, or professionals.
