Children Advocacy Centers of Arkansas (CACAR) Marks Milestone with Fundraiser

The Children’s Advocacy Centers of Arkansas (CACAR) celebrates a significant milestone this year: 25 years dedicated to protecting and supporting Arkansan children. Since its inception, CACAR has been at the forefront of providing vital services to abused and neglected children. The organization has established 30 locations across the state, where trained professionals offer forensic interviews, family advocacy, mental health programs, and medical exams at no cost to the survivors and their families.

Through its multifaceted approach, CACAR has been able to serve more than 10,000 children annually. By collaborating with medical, mental health, law enforcement, and social services, the organization ensures that child abuse victims receive the necessary support to recover and heal from traumatic experiences. CACAR operates through a delicate balance of federal, state, and local funding, combined with grants and donations, making the fundraising component essential to sustaining these crucial services.

The annual Woman of Inspiration event, now known as the Inspiration Gala, is the centerpiece of CACAR’s fundraising efforts. The event honors exceptional individuals who have made significant contributions to the welfare of children in Arkansas. Over the years, the Gala has seen notable honorees such as Danyelle Musselman and Shelley McMillon, both of whom have been influential advocates for children’s causes. The event features a runway fashion show, recognizes other exceptional individuals through the Blue Ribbon Award, and has generated significant revenue through auctions and sponsorships.

CACAR is a testament to the dedication and perseverance of its team. By working closely with schools and youth organizations, the organization has been able to prevent child sexual abuse through education programs like Empower Me. Additionally, its Darkness to Light training program helps professionals and community members address and prevent child sexual abuse. The organization’s 25-year journey has been marked by significant achievements and milestones, but its resolve to protect the children of Arkansas remains steadfast.
