Congressman Bruce Westerman addressed VA Hospital complaints in Little Rock

Congressman Bruce Westerman Speaks Out

Congressman Bruce Westerman of Arkansas recently spoke out about complaints he has received regarding the VA Hospital in Little Rock. This is not the first time Westerman has been involved in addressing significant issues within the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Returns to a Familiar Crisis

Just last year, on June 7, 2023, Westerman asked the Department of Veterans Affairs to stop flying LGBTQ+ Pride flags at VA facilities, sparking controversy and debate about what role the VA should take in promoting social issues.

Misdiagnosis Scandals

Before that, Westerman was part of the Arkansas delegation that responded to the highly publicized case of an impaired pathologist at an Arkansas veterans hospital. The pathologist, Dr. Levy, misdiagnosed numerous cases over a 12-year period, putting hundreds of veterans at risk. Westerman called for accountability from VA leaders for allowing this situation to occur.

VA Hospital Accountability

The response to the Dr. Levy case was multifaceted. Westerman, along with other Arkansas representatives, pushed for changes in the VA’s management as well as greater accountability for those who failed to intervene during Levy’s tenure. The VA ultimately launched an investigation into the matter and implemented reforms to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.

  1. I’ve delt with VA . If you complain or ask to many questions they sick there security on you . They then make it where you have to drive 90 to plus miles to be seen. Vets should be aloud to choose to be out serviced for treatment. No one should have 5 different Drs look at them or have to retell there conditions every visit . Trauma is real stop traumatized vets
