Tragedy at Dr. Martin Luther King Drive: One Man Killed in Deadly Shooting
A somber atmosphere has descended upon Little Rock following the news of a fatal shooting incident on Martin Luther King Drive. Responding to reports of a disturbance with a weapon, Little Rock Police Officers from the 12th Street Division arrived at the scene on Monday, November 7, 2022, around 5:33 p.m.
Upon their arrival, they discovered an unidentified black male at the intersection of 33rd and Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd, victimized by an apparent gunshot wound. Despite the prompt response of MEMS and Rescue teams, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Pulaski County Coroner whisked the body away for an autopsy and identification at the State Crime Lab.
Investigation and Arrests
Homicide Detectives and the Crime Scene Search Unit began investigating the case, scouring the nearby area for evidence. Following their initial efforts, which involved surveilling the scene and interviewing witnesses, two individuals were identified as suspects: Michael Brown, 47, and Shannon Fells, 46, both of Little Rock.
In the course of the investigation, Brown, 47, was read his Miranda rights and declined to make a recorded statement. Fells, 46, on the other hand, was also informed of her rights before giving a recorded statement. Eventually, both suspects were charged with 1st Degree Murder and detained at the Pulaski County Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
