Dean Kumpuris Seeks Reelection to At-Large Position on Little Rock City Board
Dr. Dean Kumpuris, the current Position 8 At-Large City Director, has announced his bid for reelection to the Little Rock Board of Directors. Kumpuris, a practicing gastroenterologist, was initially appointed to the seat in 1995 and has since been consistently reelected. His current term runs from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2024.
Kumpuris’ leadership has focused on revitalizing downtown Little Rock. Key accomplishments include his involvement in the establishment of the River Market and the expansion of Riverfront Park. He championed the La Petite Roche Plaza project in the park, which commemorates the city’s namesake.
Additionally, Kumpuris played a significant role in the development of the Clinton Presidential Center and Park. He was instrumental in the creation of the Bill Clark Wetlands Park along the Arkansas River. Furthermore, he has led efforts to introduce public art across the city, resulting in over 90 sculptures in Riverfront Park and River Market.
Kumpuris’ continued dedication to the community has been evident in his support for the Boys and Girls Club and his work as the founder of Arkansas Commitment. He has also served as the City’s liaison to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Board of Visitors.
His contributions to the city’s quality of life, recreation, and economic development will be crucial in his reelection campaign. Voters will have the opportunity to decide whether to extend his term during the November election.
