Fisher House in Little Rock Opens Doors to Military Families in Need
A groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of construction for the 101st Fisher House at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System in Little Rock. This new facility will support up to 16 veteran and military families and provide them with a comfortable place to stay while their loved ones receive medical care.
Each of the 16 private suites will feature a wheelchair-accessible bathroom, ensuring that all families can live comfortably during their stay. In addition to these private spaces, the house will also have common areas like a living room, dining room, gourmet kitchen, patio, and laundry facilities, allowing families to maintain a sense of community while still having their own private space.
The Fisher House Foundation is dedicated to helping military families through times of need. With over 97 houses in operation, the foundation has already served more than 500,000 families across the United States and Europe. For these families, having a place to stay near the hospital reduces stress and eases financial burdens, saving them millions of dollars each year.
The foundation’s motto, “A Family’s Love is Good Medicine,” highlights the importance of keeping families close together during medical crises. Having this support can greatly impact a patient’s recovery and overall well-being. In recognition of the critical role families play, the foundation works tirelessly to create safe and welcoming spaces where they can support each other and their loved ones.
