Empowering Young Girls in Central Arkansas

Girls on the Run in Central Arkansas, in collaboration with Fleet Feet, organized a 4-mile fun run on September 3, 2024, as part of a larger effort to build confidence among third to fifth-grade girls through physical activity. This event marked the beginning of a ten-week after-school program that aims to inspire these young participants to recognize their inner strength and develop healthy life habits.

The fall 2024 season for Girls on the Run Central Arkansas is already underway, and the organization is currently seeking volunteers to help lead its teams of 10-15 girls. These teams meet twice a week for 90-minute sessions, led by fully-trained coaches. The volunteers play a crucial role in mentoring and guiding these young girls as they explore meaningful connections with others and develop their social, emotional, and physical skills.

Girls on the Run is more than just a running program; it is a comprehensive approach that incorporates physical activity and dynamic discussions to foster confidence, kindness, and decision-making skills. Since its inception in 1996, the organization has transformed the lives of over 2.25 million girls in North America. In Central Arkansas alone, over 1,100 girls have benefited from these programs since 2013.

In addition to its community-based programs, Girls on the Run Central Arkansas relies on financial support to ensure that no girl is turned away due to financial hardship. Donations contribute to creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all participants. The organization encourages involvement through various means, such as coaching a team, volunteering at events, or making financial gifts.

In an effort to build a stronger and more supportive community, Girls on the Run emphasizes the importance of role models and mentors. By getting involved, individuals can not only positively impact the lives of young girls but also experience personal growth and development. The ongoing fall 2024 season promises to be a transformative experience for all involved.
