Keep Arkansas Beautiful Launches Comprehensive Cleanup Efforts
Two significant community improvement campaigns, the Great American Cleanup and the Great Arkansas Cleanup, have kicked off with thousands of volunteers participating across the state.
The Great American Cleanup, taking place from March to May, focuses on enhancing communities before the tourism season. The cleanup efforts help remove litter from public spaces, preparing Arkansas for visitors during the anticipated 2024 eclipse.
In the fall, from September to October, the Great Arkansas Cleanup brings together thousands of volunteers to remove tons of trash from roadways, parks, and public areas. This statewide campaign actively works towards turning all 75 counties “clean, green, and beautiful.”
To support these initiatives, Keep Arkansas Beautiful provides an array of resources and promotional materials. Participants can find local events and sign up on their calendar of events. Moreover, organizers can use available supplies such as disposable gloves, trash bags, and fluorescent safety vests to make the cleanup events more effective.
KAB Programs Promote Sustainability & Education
KAB offers a variety of community programs aimed at sustainability and education. The Litter Grabber Program empowers individuals to take action against litter by providing cleanup kits. Additionally, the Otto the Otter Youth Education Program avidly promotes litter prevention and education amongst young Arkansans.
The Eats & Clean Streets initiative aims to combat litter at business properties, especially those selling to-go food. This effort encourages businesses to install signage reminding customers to keep the state clean.
Volunteers, coordinators, and local leaders are all playing a crucial role in turning Arkansas into a cleaner and more welcoming place for both residents and tourists. These collective efforts ensure that the state’s natural beauty is preserved for future generations.
