Little Rock Man Sentenced to Over 16 Years for Illegal Firearm Possession

Christopher Charles Mathis, a 43-year-old multi-convicted felon from Little Rock, has been sentenced to more than 16 years in federal prison. On June 6, United States District Judge James Moody Jr. handed down the sentence following Mathis’ guilty plea to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Prior Convictions and Illegal Firearm Possession

Mathis’ lengthy criminal history includes convictions for residential burglary, domestic battery of a pregnant woman, terroristic threatening, and possession of cocaine and marijuana with intent to deliver. As a result, he is classified as an armed career criminal. He was indicted on May 3, 2023, for the current firearm charge.

Along with the prison sentence, Mathis will face three years of supervised release once he completes his term. His extensive criminal record and repeated firearm offenses led to the substantial prison sentence.

Mathis will serve 195 months in the Bureau of Prisons, followed by the supervised release period. As an armed career criminal, he faces stringent penalties for illegal firearm possession.
