Northwest Arkansas Council Launches Free Glass Recycling Pilot Program
The Northwest Arkansas Council, in partnership with Little Rock-based non-profit Epic Glass Recycling, has started a new pilot program to increase glass recycling among local businesses. The program offers four months of free glass recycling to 50 businesses in Benton and Washington counties, focusing on restaurants, bars, and liquor stores.
This initiative aims to divert glass from landfills by providing participating businesses with specialized recycling bins. The glass collected from these businesses will be transported to Little Rock, where Epic Glass Recycling will convert it into a sustainable, lightweight aggregate product ideal for construction projects.
The program, known as NWA Recycles, is a part of the Northwest Arkansas Council’s broader effort to reduce waste and increase recycling in the region. Participating businesses must sign up by August 31 and will be eligible for at least weekly collections of glass recyclables. This partnership builds on the existing collaboration between Epic Glass Recycling and local businesses, which already includes more than 50 entities in the region.
