Little Rock officials cut ribbon on new affordable homes

New Affordable Homes in Little Rock Celebrated with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

The City of Little Rock recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the completion of new affordable homes as part of the “100 Affordable Homes” initiative launched by Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. This initiative aims to bring homeownership within reach of communities south of Interstate 630 and east of I-30.

The first home, a three-bedroom, two-bathroom residence on Bowers Street in Southwest Little Rock, was celebrated in April. The ceremony signified the opening of home ownership opportunities to residents who would otherwise struggle to secure affordable housing.

Last week, officials cut the ribbon on three more properties under the same initiative. These new homes are part of the city’s broader efforts to revitalize neighborhoods and make homeownership more accessible.

Impact on the Community

The “100 Affordable Homes” initiative is expected to have a significant impact on the community, particularly in the John Barrow neighborhood where a total of sixteen affordable housing units will be developed. The city currently has nearly 50 properties in its initiative, with the goal of reaching 100 affordable homes in the coming years.

The new homes are not only a step towards more affordable housing but also contribute to the revitalization of neighborhoods. The initiative marks significant progress in the Department of Housing and Neighborhood Programs’ mission to make home ownership a reality for more residents of Little Rock.

  • The “100 Affordable Homes” initiative is a key part of Mayor Frank Scott, Jr’s two-year plan.
  • The homes are located in neighborhoods south of Interstate 630 and east of I-30.
  • The initiative aims to make homeownership more accessible to low-income residents.
