Back-to-School Supply Giveaway and Ongoing Community Events
The Arkansas Martin Luther King Jr. Commission has been actively engaging with local communities through various events and initiatives. Their most recent endeavor was a school supply giveaway held on Saturday at the Network of Believers Church on Harold Street in North Little Rock.
The event aimed to equip students with essential school supplies for the upcoming academic year. This marks the latest effort by the Commission to support local youth and families. In addition to this event, they have planned several activities for September, including a festival and a non-violence youth summit, both scheduled to take place at Southwest High School in North Little Rock.
DuShun Scarbrough, Executive Director of the Arkansas Martin Luther King Jr. Commission, highlighted the importance of these community-focused initiatives. “We’re also planning a festival, along with a non-violence youth summit. In approximately three weeks, we will commence at Southwest High School, followed by a festival at the same venue later that evening in North Little Rock, aimed at promoting non-violence and addressing violence in our community.”
The Commission has also organized other events, such as “Acts of Kind” at Bas Bilingual in Little Rock, further demonstrating their commitment to fostering positive change within the state.
