Living in Distress: Family Speaks Out Against Apartment Complex Issues
For over a year and a half, the Sissom family has been plagued by a multitude of problems at the Overbrook Apartments in North Little Rock. From black mold infestations to air conditioning malfunctions and gaping holes in the floors, the family has been left with no choice but to voice their frustrations about the subpar living conditions they are forced to endure.
Stephanie Sissom described the never-ending battle they’ve faced, stating that they’ve filed more than 33 maintenance requests. These requests have remained largely unaddressed, leaving the family in a state of desperation. The breaking point came when Stephanie’s husband suffered a frightening incident when his foot fell through the kitchen floor. The temporary solution offered by the apartment owners, RR Living, was a patch of plywood and flimsy poster board.
In response to the family’s plight, RR Living issued a statement citing the importance of resident safety and comfort. They offered to relocate the Sissom family to another apartment or even a different community at their own expense. This proposal, however, has thus far been ineffective, leaving the family in a state of uncertainty.
The Sissom family’s struggles at Overbrook Apartments are part of a larger pattern of issues plaguing the complex. Reports have surfaced detailing sewage problems that have rendered bathrooms unusable and left waste spilling onto walkways. Furthermore, multiple residents have spoken out about rampant mold, drug trafficking, and security lapses in the area.
