Pulaski County Clerk Hosts Voter Registration Session in Little Rock
In preparation for Election Day, Pulaski County Clerk Terri Hollingsworth is conducting a voter registration training session. This important event aims to equip organizations and individuals with the necessary tools and knowledge to ensure successful voter registration drives.
The registration process involves several key steps. To register, one must fill out a paper Voter Registration Application, which can be obtained from the local county clerk, the Arkansas Secretary of State Elections Division, local revenue or DMV offices, public libraries, disability agencies, or military recruitment offices. Additionally, applications can be printed from the internet or requested online. Once submitted, the county clerk processes the application, and the voter receives a personalized voter registration card, which can take several weeks.
To be eligible to vote in Arkansas, applicants must be U.S. citizens, residents of the state, at least 18 years old or turning 18 by the next election, and not convicted felons whose sentences have not been discharged or pardoned. They must also not be mentally incapacitated by a court and cannot claim voting rights in another county or state.
For those unable to verify registration at the polls, provisional ballots are available. These ballots will be counted if the voter provides the required documents by the specified deadline. Additional resources are provided for military and overseas voters through the Federal Voting Assistance Program.
To ensure voting eligibility, it is advisable to follow up with the county clerk if registration confirmation has not been received. Furthermore, voters must update their registration information if they move within the state, and military personnel may register using a single Federal Post Card Application for all elections.
