Pulaski County records 8 homicides in August

Pulaski County Sees Notable Increase in Homicides During August

Law enforcement agencies in Pulaski County experienced a significant spike in homicides during August, marking the second-deadliest month of the year. The total number of homicides reached eight, which, although lower than the count in August 2023, still indicates a substantial increase in violent crimes.

This increase follows a relatively quiet July, during which Pulaski County saw no homicides in North Little Rock. The overall homicide toll for 2024 in North Little Rock remained at seven, pointing to a decrease compared to the 13 killings that occurred in previous years.

  • One of the notable cases includes the death of Jayce Alexander, whose body was found partially buried on Vaughn Road. Authorities arrested Michael Nettles and charged him with capital murder in Alexander’s death on August 15. The subsequent investigation led to the identification of another suspect, Chad Williams, who was found dead near North Little Rock on August 17. Williams was suspected to have been involved in Alexander’s killing.

The trend in Pulaski County’s homicide statistics underscores the need for continued efforts in enhancing safety and intervention measures to address the root causes of violent crime.
