Suzanne Reed, from Eureka Springs, has been recognized with an Arkansas Arts Council 2024 Individual Artist Fellowship grant. This prestigious award highlights Reed’s exceptional talent and dedication to the arts in Arkansas.

The Arkansas Arts Council bestows unconditional awards of ,000 each to selected creatives living and working within the state. This year, 18 fellowships were granted across six categories: multisensory art, community engagement, contemporary craft with glass or ceramic/pottery components, fashion and/or costume design, novel or memoir writing, and docu-genre filmmaking.

Reed’s accomplishment is part of a broader celebration of artistic excellence in Arkansas, where the arts and cultural sectors contribute 6 million to the state’s economy. The Individual Artist Fellowship program aims to provide holistic support to individual creatives, ensuring their unique stories are told and preserved.

This year’s awardees represent a diverse group of artists, including fashion designer Azalia Molina from Tontitown, musician and cultural bridge-builder Al “Papa Rap” Lopez from Rogers, and multidisciplinary artist Virmarie DePoyster from North Little Rock. The breadth of artistic expression in Arkansas is undeniably enriched by these talented individuals.

The Arkansas Arts Council has expanded the fellowship awards for the third consecutive year, thanks in part to funding from the Windgate Foundation. This growth reflects the council’s ongoing commitment to embracing a wide range of artistic genres while uplifting both existing and emerging forms.
