Teachers to Receive Million in Bonuses Through Arkansas LEARNS Program

Thanks to the Arkansas LEARNS initiative, nearly 3,000 qualified teachers are about to receive a boost to their paycheck. By the end of June, these educators will receive a total of million in bonuses, aiming to recognize their outstanding contributions to the education system.

Identifying the Eligible Teachers

These deserving teachers have demonstrated exceptional growth in student performance, served as mentors to aspiring teachers, or taught in subjects and regions with critical shortages. To identify the recipients, the state used data from various systems, including the Statewide Information System, the Educator Effectiveness System, the Arkansas Educator Licensure System, and student state assessment data.

Supporting Teachers and Students

This bonus program is part of a larger overhaul of the education system in Arkansas. The state has also raised the minimum starting salary for teachers to ,000 a year. This comprehensive approach aims to support both teachers and students, fostering a more effective learning environment.

Impact Across Different Districts

While some districts, such as Cross, DeWitt, and McGehee, have a higher percentage of teachers receiving these bonuses, others like Clinton School District have a higher average bonus.
