The 46th Annual Ozark Quilt Fair
The Shiloh Museum of Ozark History is hosting its 46th Annual Ozark Quilt Fair, celebrating the rich tradition of Ozark craftsmanship and community relationships that have endured for generations. This year, the event holds special significance as it unveils a new outdoor shade canopy at the entrance of the museum.
Designed by a local artist selected following an open call for submissions, the canopy embodies the spirit of the Ozark region, incorporating elements of history, ecology, and culture. The canopy’s design was chosen from a pool of talented artists, all of whom were encouraged to submit their ideas and works, regardless of experience level.
Celebrating Craftsmanship and Community
On Saturday, September 7, from 10 am to 2 pm, the fair will take place on the museum grounds, offering a wide range of activities for all ages. The event will feature live music by Clarke Buehling’s Carousel Orchestra and brunch available from the Hawk and Robin food truck. Attendees can engage in free quilt-themed art-making activities, participate in a scavenger hunt, and vote for their favorite quilts in both new and antique categories.
The Ozark Quilt Fair also includes an exhibit where local quilters showcase their skillful creations. Quilts are displayed for both viewing and sale, each accompanied by a label detailing the creator, residence, date, and pattern. The event culminates with the Viewers’ Choice awards, where first, second, and third prizes will be awarded to the most popular quilts in both new and antique categories.
Shiloh Museum Supports Local Talent
The museum actively supports local artisans by providing a platform for them to showcase and sell their work. It has also instituted a sales process for quilts and quilt-related items, ensuring that the state’s sales tax requirements are met. This event, which connects artists with the community, highlights the critical role the Shiloh Museum plays in fostering Ozark craftsmanship and preserving local traditions.
