Benton County, city of Rogers report no lead found in water

Benton County and the City of Rogers: No Lead Found in Water

Recent announcements from Benton County and the city of Rogers have provided reassurance to residents regarding their water supply. The municipalities have explicitly stated that no lead has been detected in the water, despite the presence of some lead pipes in the area.

The clarification comes as a response to notifications sent to over 700 residents, indicating potential contamination due to copper and lead. These notifications were intended to inform customers in areas where the presence of lead or copper pipes is uncertain, and to note that inspections may be necessary.

Superintendent Brent Dobler of Rogers Water and Utilities emphasized that the city has not experienced any incidents of lead contamination. He attributed this to the comprehensive testing protocols that have been in place since 1991, as mandated by the Lead and Copper Rule. This rule requires water districts to test 30 sites every three years, with a total of 90 sites assessed across the city. To date, no levels exceeding acceptable limits have been recorded.

Dobler also highlighted the historical context of these requirements, noting that the protocols are designed to ensure the safety of the water supply. Additionally, he mentioned that homes constructed prior to 1988 will undergo inspections for lead pipes. Currently, the city has not identified any lead service lines in its areas of service but continues to verify the safety of each home until all areas are confirmed clear.

Jacob Davis, overseeing Benton County Water District #1, further reassured residents by stating, “Your water does not contain lead, but your pipes may potentially have lead. We are committed to providing you with reliable information and ensuring safe drinking water.”

For those with lingering concerns about possible water contamination, reaching out to the local water district is encouraged. The authorities stress the importance of transparency and continuous monitoring to guarantee the quality and safety of the water supply for all residents.
