Bentonville Planning Commission Rejects Townhome Plan, Approves Thaden School Permit
The Bentonville Planning Commission has taken decisions on two key development projects. The commission voted to reject a large-scale townhome development plan but approved a conditional use permit for the Thaden Lower School project.
In the rejected plan, the developer had proposed 14 townhome structures consisting of 84 units. This project was set to be built on the southwest side of Bentonville, covering an area of 14 acres between Been and Southwest Featherston Roads. While the developer had hoped to proceed with the project, the planning commission decided not to grant the necessary approval.
In contrast, the Thaden Lower School project received a conditional use permit with certain conditions. Thaden Lower School aims to build new facilities that will enhance the educational experience for its students, reflecting the school’s commitment to growth and improvement. The project received unanimous support from the planning commission, with all seven members voting in favor of the conditional use permit.
This mixed outcome highlights the careful consideration the Bentonville Planning Commission brings to development projects. By rejecting the large-scale townhome project but supporting the Thaden Lower School proposal, the commission demonstrates its dedication to balancing the needs of the community with its vision for the city’s future development.
