Bentonville Road Closed for Stormwater Infrastructure Improvements
Bentonville residents are set to encounter a significant alteration in their daily commute as a section of Southwest A Street closes for months. This closure, which began on a Thursday morning, will continue until mid-April, aiming to enhance the city’s stormwater infrastructure.
This extensive closure will stretch from Southwest Rose Garden Lane to Southwest 12th Street, with lane closures along the rest of the stretch. Ensuring a smoother detour, drivers will be redirected via Southeast 10th and Southeast 14th streets to Southeast C Street.
Despite the challenges this closure might pose, residents can take comfort in knowing that these improvements are part of the city’s broader efforts to both reduce flooding and ensure a more sustainable urban environment. In fact, similar initiatives have been underway in other areas of Bentonville, such as the Quilt of Parks project connecting six parks and public spaces in Downtown Bentonville.
For those with questions about the closure, Assistant Street Manager Daniel Clardy is available at (479) 271-3130. As the city navigates these changes, residents can look forward to a more resilient drainage system and reduced instances of flooding.
