Film Festival Fever Hits Bentonville

Get ready for a cinematic extravaganza as the Bensonville Film Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary from June 10 to 16. This esteemed event, founded by Academy Award-winning actress Geena Davis, promises to bring a diverse range of films and engaging discussions to Northwest Arkansas. The lineup includes both narratives and documentaries, many of which have already captured attention at notable festivals like Sundance and Tribeca.

In addition to film screenings, visitors can look forward to stimulating panel discussions focused on topics such as AI in storytelling and the portrayal of women in STEM fields. One such panel features influential women leaders sharing their experiences in breaking barriers in their careers. Additionally, emerging filmmakers will have the opportunity to present their projects during an exclusive live pitch session with top industry professionals.

Among the exciting events is the “Geena & Friends” program, where Geena Davis is joined by actors Cassandra Freeman, Tika Sumpter, and Michaela Watkins to reimagine traditional comedic narratives with an all-female cast. The festival also introduces its new alumni showcase, featuring works from filmmakers who have participated in past festivals. This initiative highlights the continued success and creativity of these artists.

For a more community-driven experience, outdoor screenings of popular films like “Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” and “Beetlejuice” will be held at The Momentary, accompanied by interactive activities for children. A festival village offering toys and games for families completes the package. These events are open to the public and free of charge.

However, those looking to delve deeper into the festival can purchase a festival pass for exclusive access to a wider range of events and activities. These include the Paramount Impact Series, which explores gender equity in the workplace, and a live performance by singer-songwriter Linda Perry. A fireworks display follows the closing awards ceremony, making this event a memorable experience.
