The Spark Foundation
The fourth annual Turkey Trot N Trek presented by the Spark Foundation is all set to attract more than 600 runners this year, commencing on November 28 in the heart of Fayetteville. The race features both a traditional 5K distance (3.1 miles) and a family-friendly 1K distance (0.62 miles). The 1K will kick off at 9 a.m., followed by the 5K at 9:15 a.m., beginning and ending at Ozark Natural Foods located at 380 N. College Avenue in Fayetteville.
- The event is open to runners of all ages.
- The Pay Your Age initiative allows children aged 5-12 to register for the 5K or 1K by paying their age, rather than the full registration fee.
- The Spark Foundation is partnering with the NWA Food Bank to host a food drive at the race. Participants are encouraged to bring nonperishable foods to support local families facing food insecurity during the holiday season.
The Spark Foundation, founded in 2011 by two Fayetteville natives, aims to increase access to health and fitness opportunities and education through their racing events and outreach programming. Proceeds from the Turkey Trot N Trek benefit local organizations, such as elementary schools, that enhance community fitness opportunities and services.
Dress Up and Enjoy
Every year, the Turkey trot events incorporate festive elements, making them stand out among other local events. For this year’s Wild Gobbler 5K Adventure and Turkey Trot for Heroes 5K, participants are encouraged to dress up in Thanksgiving costumes. There will be a Best Dressed award given out for the best individual or group, chosen by Sgt. Maj Lance Nutt. It’s an excellent opportunity for friends and families to come together in a fun and spirited atmosphere while contributing to a great cause.
