Rogers Police Crack Down on Looting After Tornadoes Sweep Benton County
Rogers police have issued a stern warning to would-be looters and lawbreakers in the aftermath of the devastating tornadoes that struck Benton County. Following the widespread destruction, the police department has pledged to maintain a strong presence in affected areas, aggressively targeting any individuals attempting to capitalize on the disaster.
Two arrests have already been made in connection with commercial burglary, as a 28-year-old man and a 26-year-old man were caught taking merchandise from the ruins of Sally Beauty. The police are leaving no doubt about their zero-tolerance stance, stating that anyone caught engaging in looting or theft will face swift and severe consequences, including a “free ride to the Benton County Bed and Breakfast.”
Rogers police have also begun handing out citations to drivers who disregard barricades, emphasizing the critical importance of following road closures. Officers have witnessed individuals moving cones and caution tape to bypass these closures, putting themselves and others at risk.
In addition to responding to reports of looting, area law enforcement agencies, including the Bentonville Police Department and the Decatur Police Department, are working closely with the Rogers Police Department to ensure a united front against this criminal behavior. Benton County Sheriff’s deputies are patrolling the area along with local police to help prevent further incidents.
