The Springdale School District Enters into New Land Deal
Recent actions by the Springdale School Board have led to the district considering the sale of (28.7) acres of land at the intersection of Don Tyson Parkway and George Anderson Road. This land was originally purchased for approximately ({@1.8 million}0,000 in 2018 with the intention of building an elementary school. However, the school board has since decided to market this property for sale to utilize the proceeds for expanding existing infrastructure.
The initial decision to sell this land came during the school board’s regular meeting earlier this month. Superintendent Jared Cleveland was granted permission to market the property, marking a shift from the district’s initial intent for the land. This decision is seen as an opportunity to reutilize the land to better suit the district’s current needs.
The district’s interest in selling this land is part of its ongoing efforts to manage its properties effectively. In May 2023, the school board approved two land purchases totaling (39.06) acres as well as the sale of two parcels totaling (36.06) acres at Sisemore Lane, yielding approximately (.3) million. These land deals aimed to support expansion and provide greater flexibility for growth and education.
As the district progresses with its sale, it is also moving forward with other important initiatives. These initiatives include participating in social media litigation, applying for a grant to manage cell phone use, and celebrating the achievements of its students and staff. The new course of action for this land sale is part of a broader effort by the Springdale School District to adapt and thrive.
