Authorities have called for lawmakers to make adjustments to laws to hold repeat offenders accountable.

In the Greater Toronto Area, Peel Regional Police arrested 16 suspects and issued warrants for another 10 in connection with an auto theft operation involving hundreds of vehicles. The recovered vehicles have a combined value of .2 million. Investigators identified a local trucking company allegedly facilitating the shipment of stolen vehicles to ports for export.
