English for College & Career Program
The English for College and Career (ENGC) program is designed for linguistically diverse students, focusing on improving their English comprehension, reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. Students in this program have benefited greatly from the guidance of experienced instructors like Ms. Mallow and Ms. Miller, who help build confidence and fluency in English.
Students like Renato Betim, who hails from Sao Paulo, Brazil, have seen significant improvement in their writing and grammar skills. The program’s emphasis on practice has helped students develop creativity in their writing and apply learned skills to other college classes.
NWACC Eagle Welcome
All newly enrolled students are required to attend the NWACC Eagle Welcome event, which takes place on both the Bentonville and Washington County campuses. This event allows students to familiarize themselves with the campus, meet new people, and learn about the various programs and resources available to them.
The event includes a Resource Fair, where students can connect with different services on campus, such as the Writing Center, and attend informative sessions about student conduct codes, counseling, and library services. Registration for Eagle Welcome is mandatory, and students can sign up for either the Bentonville or Washington County location.
Writing Support
NWACC’s Writing Center is a valuable resource for all students, offering face-to-face consultations, online reviews of papers, and virtual interviews. The center helps students with all steps of the writing process, from prewriting to editing, ensuring they produce cogent essays and avoid plagiarism.
The Writing Center provides support for both students and NWACC English faculty, supplementing classroom training with additional guidance. Consultants are available for face-to-face consultations, and students can also submit work for virtual review. The center also maintains a list of useful writing resources, including documentation guides and grammar exercises.
