MONROE COUNTY, GA — A Nashville murder suspect was hospitalized after a brief early-morning chase on Interstate 75 in Monroe County ended when deputies used a PIT maneuver and forced the vehicle off the road, the sheriff’s office said.
Investigators identified the driver as 38-year-old Deundre Bridges of Nashville, Tennessee. Deputies said they first tried to stop the southbound vehicle near mile marker 181 around 1:01 a.m. Tuesday, but the driver kept going.
The chase ended in a crash, and Bridges was taken to a Macon-area hospital for treatment. Authorities have not yet said how serious his injuries are.
Deputies tried to stop the car near mile marker 181 before the pursuit turned into a crash
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said deputies spotted the vehicle traveling south on I-75 and attempted a traffic stop just after 1 a.m. The driver did not pull over, prompting a short pursuit along the interstate.
According to the sheriff’s office, the chase remained brief before deputies used a PIT maneuver to bring it to an end. That tactic caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and crash.
No one else was reported injured in the incident. Officials have not said how fast the vehicle was traveling or how long the pursuit lasted before the maneuver was used.
Sheriff’s office says the vehicle was stolen and the driver was wanted for murder
After the crash, deputies learned the vehicle Bridges was driving had been stolen, the sheriff’s office said. They also said Bridges was wanted in connection with a murder investigation in Nashville.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately release any local booking details or say whether state or federal authorities were helping with the case. It also has not announced any pending charges tied to the chase or the stolen vehicle.
Bridges remained in a Macon-area hospital on Tuesday receiving treatment for his injuries. Officials did not provide a timeline for when he might be released or transferred.
Nashville police linked Bridges to a December 2025 killing at a Zermatt Avenue apartment complex
Metropolitan Nashville Police said Bridges and three other men were recently indicted on first-degree murder charges in the Dec. 14, 2025, shooting death of 34-year-old Gavin Thompson.
Police said the killing happened at an apartment complex on Zermatt Avenue. According to investigators, Babajide Grillo Jr., 29, lured Thompson out of his car while two other men waited nearby in a parked black Chevrolet Impala.
The two men then chased Thompson and shot him during a struggle, police said. Nashville officers also confirmed that the black Chevrolet Impala used in the attack belonged to Bridges.
Investigators say three other men were charged in the same murder case
Along with Bridges, the indictment included Glenwan Hobson Jr., 30, Anthony Ramsey, 28, and Grillo. Nashville police said all four men face first-degree murder charges in the killing of Thompson.
The case gave a broader picture of why Bridges was being sought when Monroe County deputies found him on I-75. The sheriff’s office said he was actively wanted for murder out of Nashville at the time of the chase.
Police have not released additional details about how the men were connected beyond the allegations in the indictment. The criminal cases against them remain separate from the Georgia traffic stop and crash.
Officials have not said what happens next for Bridges after hospital treatment
Authorities have not said what condition Bridges was in beyond confirming that he was being treated at a Macon-area hospital. They also have not released details on whether local prosecutors will file charges first in Georgia or whether Tennessee authorities will seek custody.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Metropolitan Nashville Police Department provided the information released so far. Both agencies described the chase, the stolen vehicle and the outstanding murder case, but neither offered a full timeline for the next court steps.
For now, Bridges remains hospitalized while investigators continue work on two connected matters: the interstate chase in Georgia and the murder case in Nashville.
